Did you ever have a Pen Pal?

As far as I can remember I was about 12 (ish) when I last had pen pals. I can't even remember how I got them.  Two were from Holland, I remember their names though, Alice de Boer and Bernadette van de Graff!  Unfortunately all their letters were in Dutch and mine were in English so corresponding was a little hard!!  Which leads me to the present day, through blogging I discovered 'The League of Extraordinary Pen Pals' and I thought why not?

You have to subscribe to this service (stops all the weird ones) and your details are kept on a members only database.  Only joined last week and already have 3 cards.  I sent off 8 cards - 3 in UK, 1 in France, 2 in USA and 2 in Canada. Its for those who love getting beautiful mail and other gorgeous stuff in the post, and just like blogging, new friends are to be made!

Age is no barrier, and if you have the time it can be a great way to journal to.

I like to  make and print my own cards and letters, like this Alice one :)

The image was a 'freebie' on Pinterest - another huge source of inspiration.

Pen Pal (ing) is just another creative outlet, and the more the merrier I say!

  1. I think this is a wonderful idea. We get so few real letters these days. When my daughter was at uni I used to send her a pretty card every week. It's so nice to have something lovely drop on the mat.
